Yeah at that point it’s gonna be a whole lot of work to rewire both people behavior, it will seem easier to just quit.

Jesus, the first time I see #1, or maybe if I’m feeling generous #2, I am gone before the wedding even happens.

If either partner shows sustained contempt toward the other, that alone speaks volumes about the health of the marriage. But to assess the likelihood of divorce, I’d also want to know how long they’ve been married, their ages, whether both are employed, their ethnic background, and whether they’re raising young children. With that information, I feel it’s possible to predict divorce risk with high accuracy — even among couples in the general population, not just the self-selecting subset who seek counseling.”

It’s wild that my parents have been doing all these things for 30+ years and are still together. Dad lives in the rv in the driveway though. 😂

This reads to me like: guy discovers that people who show strong signs of getting divorce are 91% likely to get a divorce

I once read that one of the most reliable predictors of a marriage ending is the woman making more money than the man when it wasn’t the case before. Like if they make around the same money and the woman gets a big pay bump, or the man starts earning less, it is way more likely to end a marriage than infidelity, or just about anything really.

I’d love to see an example of the 9% that treat each other like this but somehow make it work

I just learned about John Gottman this week from my therapist! What a coincidence! I read some of his stuff and it was informative with a lot of “a-ha” moments.

I remember getting marriage counseling from a divorced marriage counselor. We’ve been discussing all these topics for 37 years now. I wouldn’t say we fight but we do have heated discussions every now and then.

So he only predict it after a couple has decided to go to marriage counseling after months of relationship issues.
I think an easier way is to just join a Dougdoug livestream
I was going to ask my ex-wife to remarry me, until she discovered I was only after my money..
The “four horsemen” sound a lot like someone that’s holding a boundary
